The Board of Healthcare Funders of Southern Africa (BHF) Benchmark Tariffs and Procedure Codes have been adopted as the Namaf recommenced tariffs to be used by Namibian Medical Aid Funds for reimbursing medical claims. These tariffs are reviewed annually in conjunction with BHF, medical aid funds and providers’ Associations, and a suitable percentage increase is implemented that is affordable to the funds.
Should a service provider charge higher than the benchmark tariffs for medical services, then the medical aid member (patient) is responsible for the difference between the tariff charged by the provider and the benchmark tariff the Medical Aid Fund reimburses for the claim.
