Namaf will assist members to better understand how their medical aid fund operates in respect of the benchmark tariffs, their responsibility for co-payment for a portion of their medical costs, and how they should establish up-front the amount their fund will pay for expensive medical treatment.

Members may also approach Namaf should they feel that their claims or membership status is being unfairly treated by a fund, in terms of the Medical Aid Funds Act. If the complaint is valid, Namaf will take the matter up with the relevant fund on behalf of the member, to rectify the situation.

The allocation of practice numbers to service providers ensures a member that proper qualified medical treatment will be received.
